Baby boy cardigan (March 2011)

4 May

A while back I found the most darling–and incredibly simple to knit–pattern for a baby cardigan. (I’ll edit the post with link and/or name as soon as I have a moment to look for it). It so happened that I had the most delicious shade of pale blue yarn handy:

Mind you, this picture doesn’t truly do it justice–this one comes closer to the true shade of the yarn:

As you can see, there is nothing special or complex about the design–simple stockinette stitch with a garter stitch border all around the body, up the button bands and around the neck, as well as matching bands around the cuffs.

The only trick, if you will, is that without any fancy stitches to fool the eye, any change in tension will show–the knitting has to be as close to perfectly even as humanly possible.

I confess that I’m very, very pleased with how it turned out. As I just sold it on Etsy, here is hoping the recipient will appreciate it! 😀
