I saw this yesterday and was awestruck at the level of his thoughts and reactions. He didn’t villify his father for his violence; he came to a recognition for why his father was violent and although it wasn’t excusable, it was something that could have been helped if more was understood at that time.

It takes an amazing level of maturity and compassion to stand up as he has and tell men that they are the cause but they are also the cure.

    I love him.

      I love him too.

I read a number of feminist blogs–wherein feminist = people are people, no matter what their dangly bits look like–and that sentiment (men as cause and, most specially, cure) is something you hear again and again.

The problem is how difficult it is to have a calm conversation with people who, sincerely and honestly, don’t see how calling their life-in girlfriend “that bitch” is misogynistic. [True story: the guy just bought her a new car and brings her flowers at work–the same day he told me, “if that bitch doesn’t shut up…” Disconnect much?]
