You are cordially invited.

It all started with a comment I made on twitter, that the inimitable Robin Bradford reacted to with enthusiasm, and here we are.
The rules: there are no ‘rules’, they are more like guidelines.
On the 14th of every month BUT February, I’ll watch a movie that meets the conventions of genre romance, and will invite people on twitter to watch it with me. (On February, I’ll be a rebel, and probably watch something on the 15th.)
I’ll use #RomancelandiaMovieNight so those who want to watch with me and/or discuss the movie on twitter know where to go. (I may or may not also do a blog post sort-of-a-movie-review, but I’m trying to keep my goals manageable here.)
The first movie night of 2022 will therefore be on Friday, January 14th, and I’ll be watching Boomerang (1992–Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry, and a glorious cast)
Here, have a trailer:
Or check out the wikipedia page.
Here’s to a year of romance that has nothing to do with asshole thinkpieces.
Cheers!

Update: I immediately fucked up, and used #RomancelandiaMovieNight2022 in the announcement on twitter, but I think I’ll stick to the more general one on the actual day.
Sounds like fun!
I remember having so much fun when we did the #DeadlySexyWatch with Ms Bev, and while I hold no expectations of a fraction of the numbers we had that night, I hope everyone (anyone) who wants to participate will enjoy it.
Will these be easy to access titles? Will they be on a streaming service? This is something I would love to do. My daughter and I do Netflix Party so we can watch movies together and I love it.
Oh, I’d love to have you do it with us!
I don’t do streaming services myself, so I don’t know what’s where; I’ll check that they are easy to rent for streaming, at the very least.
FYI: Boomerang is on Amazon, free on Prime. Not on Netflix.
Yes, I checked that it was there before choosing it for this month.
Oh excellent, since we’re currently boycotting Netflix. (I know, Amazon is awful, but you do what you can.)
This, always.
