I had so hoped to be nearly done stitching my contributions to the #RomancingTheVote auction, but “best laid plans” and all that.
First, the Teflon plate of my steam iron (which is literally decades old), seems to have given up the ghost. The burns are a bit less noticeable in person, but the fabric is burned.

I may be able to save this one, by replacing the burned patches, but it’s going to take some doing.
Losing one half-way-there pouch would have been less of a problem if I hadn’t subluxated one of the fingers in my left, and dominant, hand.
I have explained elsewhere that this happens occasionally, with various joints. It’s just one of those things you learn to live with. However, as I age, it takes longer for the bone to pop back in place, for the joint to stabilize, and for the pain to subside. 1

What with one thing and another, I ended up having to stop sewing altogether for over a week, which is why I’m just past the halfway mark rather than almost done. I will continue working, and, with any luck, I’ll be done altogether in two or three weeks, tops.
I am very grateful that all of the winners have been very understanding and patient with me, as I keep working on these.

1 Last March I subluxated my right hand thumb. One year later, the joint is useful and painless, though deformed, and while I’ve regained most of the strength, I’ve lost a significant range of motion. hEDS, even when it’s mild as fuck, sucks mightily.
Oh no! Just a perfect storm of bad luck for you. 😦
The little things that can make or break a plan, willa, the little things.
It wasn’t THAT bad, but then I lost my internet entirely yesterday at noon, and I just got it back.
Which is such a relief, because without it, there’s not working from home.
Oh good grief!
(As someone who really doesn’t like April 1st jokes, yesterday’s internet bullshit felt very much like the cruelest of pranks.)
Wow. And the thumb/finger sounds painful. I’m glad you know to take care of yourself and not push through and do more damage. hugs to you ma’am.
Thank you, Lori! And yes, I did stop sewing entirely to let the joint heal properly, and I’m just now back to it.
