Have some cat pictures

2 Sep
A fairly small adult calico cat, quiet dark in her marking but with a small cream splotch on the side of her nose/muzzle, looking just to the side of the camera. She's neatly laying on one page of a hardcover book, her tail tucked around her front paws
Nightmare’s usual resting place when I try to read print books

Hello from the land of “no spoons for blogging”. Since I’m not here, but I’m also loath to let a whole week pass without posting anything, here are a few pictures of my cats, Gaby and Nightmare. (Image heavy post ahoy!)

It’s worth noting that I don’t have that many pictures of them because both seem to know when I’m about to take one, and move/run/hide; though I’ve been able to catch Nightmare when she’s willing to stay put for a picture more often than Gaby.

Also, there are no pictures of them together because, even though they were adopted as very young kittens, first Gaby and then Nightmare a few weeks later, they have never been friendly towards each other. At best, they display cool indifference; during the six-months-long dêbacle that was the community siding replacement, they fought a lot (we are all passionately grateful it’s over, so we can go back to armed détente).

Close up of a grey tabby who's looking directly at the camera with a fairly disgruntled expression.
Gaby, grupmy (I can almost hear, “get that phone outta my face”)
The same calico cat standing on a windowsill, between the glass and the mini blinds, fully stretched out, her front paws all the way above her head to reach the edge of the part of the window that opens.
Nightmare weird winter sunning position
Adult grey tabby cat laying inside a cardboard box, about 12 by 16 inches, where the top is just clear plastic. Her head is sticking out the opening, looking up at the camera. The cat is big enough to almost fill up the box.
Gaby, “hiding”
The calico cat laying inside a small cardboard box that reads, "smoked brisling sardines" while looking haughtily at the camera. The box is about three by eight inches, and the cat fits perfectly, tail and all. Next to the box, the end of the grey tabby's tail is curled up on the table.
Nightmare: “I totally fits” with bonus Gaby tail
Dark calico cat curled up on my lap, her face half hidden in my left hand as I scritch/pet her.
Nightmare aka lap cat
The calico cat, with her hind quarters on the lid of a large plastic container of coffee, and her front legs extended down to the table, daintily crossed one in front of the other.
“I totally fits, plus I look unbearably cute”
The calico cat looking out from inside the empty plastic wrapper for water bottles
“It’s mine now”
The grey tabby, her hindquarters on a plastic box, draping her front legs over the hardcover book I had leaning on the box; the cat is looking at me with some intensity.
“You know you could pet me instead, right?”
The calico cat laying on the space between my legs as I have an ankle over the other leg's knee. She's looking a it over my shoulder, one of her front paws kneading at my hip
“Time to pet me, yes?”
Same cat, a minute later, still on my lap, looking off to the side, ears perked up, eyes intent
“Did you hear that?”
Same cat, a bit later yet, still on my lap, relaxed with eyes half-closed as I scratch below her chin
“Scritches is good, don’t stop”

Awwww, they look like trouble making sweeties.
I like dogs, I like puppies. But cats are the best and I never understand people who don’t like them. When a cat loves you, they aren’t all submissive, sweet like a dog. They just tolerate you more.
Give them a scritch from Auntie Lori.

These two are definitely trouble! (and sweet)

SO SWEET!! We have two cats – litter mates who are 5. We adopted them as kittens from the SPCA. Coco and Charlie. I’m going to tweet a photo of Charlie to you because he shares the same face with Gaby.

It’s a very classic tabby face, and the coloring, with the slightly reddish-brown shade around the muzzle, is just lovely to me.

Cuties! The zoomed in on grumpy Gabby’s face made me laugh. Extra treats!
