Reminder: #RomancelandiaMovieNight

While I’m still not reading anything new to me, I continue to stitch away at the patchwork pouches (much slower than I would like, but progress is happening).

On that note, a brief reminder for anyone wanting to participate in #RomancelandiaMovieNight that I’ll be watching and live-tweeting/-tooting (heh!) THE PHOTOGRAPH (2020), with Isa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield, tomorrow May 14th, at 9PM Eastern.

Chugging along (another update)

Given the absolute shitshow that is US politics right now, let alone “we are still in a pandemic, stupid”, and “there’s a war in Europe, so food and fuel prices have risen because war profiteering is a thing US corporations do really well”, I thought to try for a bit of cheer.

Maid in Manhattan (2002) (sort of a movie review)

MAID IN MANHATTAN, a Cinderella-with-a-twist romantic comedy, was the April selection for #RomancelandiaMovieNight; originally released in 2002, I had vague, fond-ish memories of this movie, which, alas, were not really warranted.

Reader, beware: the movie is tropetastic. The hero is a Republican politician, and there’s just enough oily smarm in those bits to be off-putting. I believe there’s also a couple of instances of cursing (I curse more in the review itself), but that’s it–there isn’t even any nudity.

Odds and ends

For #RomancelandiaMovieNight next week, the movie is MAID IN MANHATTAN (2002). Cinderella, with a twist!

It’s been a bad week for reading, let alone reviewing, and I don’t have much progress to show on my sewing for #RomancingTheVote, but I can’t let the week pass without a post, lest I backslide to letting the blog die, so this short note will have to suffice.
